The Living Usk
Mae’r afon Wysg yn fyw
The Living Usk (2026—2027) is Peak’s long-term creative exploration of the River Usk, which moves through the agricultural, rural and post-industrial communities of Powys, Monmouthshire, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and Merthyr Tydfil.
In common with all Peak programmes, The Living Usk is led by the ideas, questions and urgencies of young people, who tell us that the Usk is central to their daily lives and experiences of climate change, and that the river offers a connection to other young people across different communities. The programme builds on the Usk Mapping Project (2025), which brought young people together with ecologists, farmers and community members.
The Living Usk supports place-based research, artist practice and opportunities for young people to collaborate with cross-disciplinary practitioners. Through peer learning, shared enquiry, creative exploration, and the gathering of diverse perspectives, the programme creates space for collective imagining and future community-led action in response to the climate and nature emergencies.

Archwiliad creadigol hirdymor Peak o’r Afon Wysg yw Mae’r afon Wysg yn fyw (2026—2027), sy’n symud drwy’r cymunedau amaethyddol, gwledig ac ôl-ddiwydiannol sy’n rhan o ranbarthau Powys, Sir Fynwy, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent a Merthyr Tudful.
Yn cydgyffwrdd â phob un o raglenni Peak, caiff Mae’r afon Wysg yn fyw ei arwain gan y syniadau a’r cwestiynau a’r materion brys sy’n bwysig i bobl ifanc. Maen nhw wedi sôn wrthom fod yr Afon Wysg yn ganolog i’w bywydau beunyddiol a’u profiadau o newid hinsawdd, a bod yr afon yn cynnig cysylltiad at bobl ifanc eraill ar draws gwahanol gymunedau. Mae’r rhaglen yn adeiladu ar Broject Mapio’r Wysg (2025), oedd yn dod â phobl ifanc ynghyd gydag ecolegwyr, ffermwyr ac aelodau o’r gymuned.
Mae’r afon Wysg yn fyw yn cefnogi ymchwil lleoledig, ymarfer artistig a chyfleoedd i bobl ifanc gydweithio gydag ymarferwyr trawsddisgyblaethol. Mae’r rhaglen yn creu gofod ar gyfer dychmygu ar y cyd a gweithredu cymunedol at y dyfodol mewn ymateb i’r argyfwng hinsawdd a natur drwy ddysgu gan gyfoedion, holi cwestiynau tebyg, cynnal archwiliadau creadigol, a chynnull gwahanol safbwyntiau ynghyd.
